Sindskort is er een PSP2 aangekondigd, beter gezegd: PSP NGP - New Generation Portable. (Nintendo Got Powned ^^). Ze hebben momenteel 82 ontwikkelaars eraan werken.

Tokyo, January 27, 2011– Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) today announced its next generation portable entertainment system (codename: NGP), which delivers the ultimate portable entertainment experience. NGP will make its debut at the end of the year 2011.

Sony’s Next Generation Portable is perfect for Massive Multiplayer Online-games (MMO)! so says John Smedley, head of MMO-Studio Sony Online Entertainment, in an interview.

Smedley once got asked if the free-to-play MMO’s could ever work on a console. He sees the NGP, just like the PlayStation 3, perfectly suitable for these free-to-play games.
John Smedley proposed in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz that “There are a lot of free-to-play games that are great, and I think that’s going to come over to console just as well.”
With games like SOE’s Free Realms, John Smedley also believes that “[Sony is] selling to an audience that already has the PS3 obviously – and by the way not the just the PS3, but in the future I can see other devices. Sony’s announced the NGP, and if that isn’t a perfect machine for doing MMOs on, then I don’t know what is.” He went on to mention that it’s only a matter of time until more and more developers attempt to enter the free to play scene with the success of other free-to-play titles in mind.

I don’t disagree with the notion that free-to-play games are generally increasing in quality as the market for them increases, and free to play games can work in a console setting if certain specifications are met.
I feel as though controls are the largest issue when it comes to trying to make an MMO on the console. Given the current standard of having many abilities as well as keys that may or may not need to be pressed, it’s a little iffy as to whether or not any of this can work, but with DC Universe Online on the PS3 I feel as though things may be looking up.
So, in short, I can’t disagree, Smedley, but I still don’t believe you about the NGP. Moving onto a handheld will only exaggerate the control issue, even if you take into account the system’s dual touchscreens. Even more so, MMOs are a genre for people who are able to dedicate large blocks of time to a single gaming session, while handhelds have always been a system for people in transit or on the crapper – that is to say not fully vested in the prospect of a long gaming session.

Nintendo is al sinds jaar en dag vooruitstrevend in het ontwerpen van hun games en consoles.
Een aantal voorbeelden hiervan zijn: de NES controller, cardridges, platform-games, de Wii remote, handheld 3D gaming...

Het enige wat Sony doet is de ideeën overnemen en ze later verbeterd uitbrengen.
Dat is hetzelfde als zeggen dat AMD nu krachtigere processors maakt dan Intel 2 jaar geleden deed.

Volgens mij begrijp je niet precies wat ik bedoel.

De codename van de nieuwe PSP was 'NGP', die zo goed zal zijn, dat hij Nintendo (3DS) Powned. Als je quote, quote dan de hele stuk

En de consoles van Nintendo waren totdat de PSP uitkwam 'unrivalled', maar de PSP kan gewoon meer hebben dan bijv. een DS. Dat is een fact. We kunnen nog lang doorgaan over wie nou beter is, maar als je de PSP vergelijkt met de DS, dan wint de PSP sws.

dit ding wordt the bomb.. Ik werk voor Sony en heb al enkele dingen gezien van dit toestelletje.. Ongelofelijk lekker ding! Haptische/touchcontrols.. Innovatieve gameplay ideën hebben eindelijk de tools om gespeeld te worden zoals de ontwikkelaar het voor ogen had.

Hou vooral "Naughty Dog" in het oog, bekend van de Uncharted: Series.. Staat leuk paardje op stal voor bij de release!

er is ons nog geen definitieve dropdate confirmed, maar alles wijst erop dat ze alle zeilen bij zetten om het ding onder de kerstboom te kunnen leggen in 2012, misschien wel eerder.

Wanneer ik meer nieuws heb post ik 't wel, maar ze houden ons in't donker momenteel ;-)

njaah ik ben geen zo'n handheld gamer, m'n handen zijn altijd nét iets te groot om er comfortabel enkele uren mee te kunnen doorbrengen, maar ik wil het ding gerust eens testen :-D
