Whether or not you think the Socket 1366 platform is expensive, Intel's upcoming Socket 1156 setups will certainly seem affordable - the Lynnfield CPUs will start at lower prices, the memory is 'just' dual channel, and the motherboards will go down to some sweet price tags. Speaking of sweet price tags, quite a few European online stores have begun listing a P55 motherboard that upon release would cost under 100 Euro.
Going as low as 91 Euro according to one store, the Gigabyte P55M-UD2 is a microATX motherboard (almost) ready to embrace the Lynnfield processors and take on AMD's AM3 platform. The board's specs are unfortunately not available but we'd expect it to have four DDR3 memory slots, one PCI-Express x16 slot, and the usual - six SATA ports, Gigabit Ethernet and 7.1 channel audio. Hopefully the current prices paired up with the P55M-UD2 will be maintained (or lowered) when the motherboard ships. Wait for it.
